Calgary, AB — Representatives from the Islamic Restoration Society (IRES) recently sat down for a highly productive meeting with Honorable Muhammad Yaseen, MLA for Calgary-North and Alberta’s Associate Minister of Multiculturalism. The meeting marked a significant step forward in aligning our organization’s programs with broader provincial efforts to enhance community safety, support diverse populations, and foster social responsibility.
During the discussion, the IRES team formally introduced our comprehensive three-pillar continuum of care:
- Crime Prevention & Youth Outreach: Engaging and guiding at-risk youth and newcomers to build resilience, strong identity, and prevent entry into the justice system.
- Islamic Prison Ministry: Safely delivering essential moral guidance, education, and institutional support inside correctional facilities to spark lasting internal reform.
- Post-Release Reintegration: Restoring the broken family and community bonds necessary to help individuals successfully permanently rejoin society as contributing members.
Strategic Guidance for Future Growth
MLA Yaseen, a dedicated public servant with deep roots in local community volunteerism, expressed great interest in our data-driven approach to reducing recidivism (re-offending). Recognizing the vital cultural and faith-congruent nuances IRES brings to supporting racialized and newcomer populations, he offered strategic, invaluable guidance on navigating Alberta Government grant frameworks.
His expert advice highlighted key provincial funding streams designed to empower multicultural initiatives, enhance community integration, and support crime reduction on a grassroots level.
Moving Forward Together
“We are incredibly grateful to MLA Yaseen for his time, his advocacy for multicultural communities, and his insightful guidance,” said an IRES representative following the meeting. “This discussion underscores the power of collaboration between community-led charities and our provincial leadership. The funding pathways discussed will be instrumental as we look to scale our programs, expand our reintegration supports, and continue building safer, more resilient streets across Alberta.”
As a strictly non-political, registered Canadian charity, IRES remains steadfastly committed to its mission of transforming lives and protecting communities. We look forward to actively pursuing these provincial partnerships to ensure our vital work continues to thrive.
