On April 7, 2026, eight participants gathered at Bedford House, operated by the Calgary John Howard Society, to enjoy a community‑building activity sponsored by the Islamic Restoration Society (IRES). Following brief personal introductions, participants took part in The Game of THINGS, which quickly created a welcoming and engaging atmosphere.
The game proved to be both enjoyable and meaningful. Participants were highly engaged, sharing laughter as well as thoughtful reflections, allowing for open expression and connection in a relaxed setting.
Malik Muradov, one of the participants, shared his reflections on the experience:
“I was surprised. I have worked with inmates in institutional settings; however, individuals often demonstrate a greater ability to express themselves once they are conditionally released and re‑enter society.”
The event concluded with snacks and drinks generously sponsored by the Islamic Restoration Society. IRES would like to extend sincere thanks to Manager Fay Corbiell for approving and supporting this event.
Through initiatives like this, IRES continues to provide critical post‑release support, helping individuals establish stability, rebuild confidence, and lay the foundation for a successful new chapter in their lives.
