November is Family Violence Prevention Month in Alberta 💜
Alberta has the third highest rate of self-reported spousal violence among Canadian provinces — yet family violence is preventable.
Family violence is an abuse of power within a family or other trusting relationship. Its effects are felt throughout families, workplaces and communities. Recognizing the signs, and knowing how to respond, can make a meaningful difference in someone’s life.
At Islamic Restoration Society – IRES, we stand for healthy, safe relationships.
Through our PEACE initiative — Prevention, Education, Advocacy, Community and Empowerment — funded by a grant from the Government of Alberta, we support Muslim families facing family challenges and domestic violence, and help connect them to the supports they need.
