Biography:

I am a neuroscience student-researcher at the University of Calgary, with a deep interest in biology, philosophy, and justice. My research explores how brain cells, called astrocytes, mediate communication between neurons and blood vessels. Outside the lab, I tutor high school students, which gives me an opportunity to share my passion for science and provide support for youths as they transition to post-secondary education. I also like reading philosophy books and spending time in the Rocky Mountains.

Profession:

Student-Researcher

Why is IRES important to you that you are investing your time and resources in it?

Where people end up in life is rarely the result of isolated choices — it’s shaped by genetics, upbringing, and social conditions. Yet society often responds to crime with retribution, forgetting the role that luck and support play in our own paths. IRES matters to me because it refuses to define people by their lowest moments. It offers dignity, healing, and a vision of justice rooted in mercy, community, and prevention, not punishment.

Hobbies:

Philosophy books, amateur astronomy, hiking
