💼 Become a board member

The members of the Board of Directors of IRES are carefully selected from within our community to reflect its diverse makeup, while upholding our core Islamic values and principles of community development and restorative justice. The Directors bring a variety of backgrounds, experiences, educations, and perspectives to guide and oversee the Society effectively.

IRES Board operates under a Policy Governance Model and restricts its involvement to setting the Society’s Vision, Mission, and overall goals (Ends), and then diligently monitoring the Society’s progress in achieving these objectives, while ensuring adherence to any executive limitations established by the Board. The Board’s key responsibilities include:

Overseeing the operations to ensure no illegal or criminal activity is taking place.
Assisting with fundraising for the organization.
Helping with public relations to spread the word about our organization.
Advising the operations with feedback from the public and providing recommendations to better the services.

Regular Board meetings are held quarterly, with additional special meetings as needed. Board members are expected to participate in Society’s events, fundraisers, and retreats, but Board members never become personally involved in the day-to-day operations of the Society.

IRES’s Board may have a maximum of 15 members, with a typical range of five to nine members. Serving on our Board offers opportunities for learning, challenge, and fulfillment. New Board members are asked to commit to a two-year term. To ensure a dynamic and innovative Board, the maximum term of service is six years.
