Condolence Message on the Passing of Pope Francis

The Islamic Restoration Society – IRES extends its deepest condolences to the global Catholic community on the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis. As a man of peace, humility, and sincerity, Pope Francis dedicated his life to building bridges between faiths and fostering a spirit of dialogue, compassion, and coexistence.
His historic visits to the Arabian Peninsula, Iraq, and Indonesia—lands with deep Islamic heritage—stand as powerful symbols of his commitment to mutual understanding between Muslims and Christians. His signing of the Document on Human Fraternity with the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Ahmed Al-Tayyeb, and the Joint Declaration of Istiqlal with Grand Imam Nasaruddin Umar in Jakarta reflected not just diplomacy, but a sincere desire for shared human values to prevail over division and extremism.
Pope Francis reminded us through words and actions that “God has created all human beings equal in rights, duties and dignity.” We, at IRES, share in this vision of human fraternity and stand committed to continuing the work of healing, reconciliation, and respect among all people.
We pray that the legacy of Pope Francis inspires future generations to walk the path of peace. May God, the Most Merciful, grant him rest and surround those who mourn his loss with comfort and light.
