The Islamic Restoration Society (IRES) is honored to present at the upcoming Ethnocultural Conference: Building Bridges – Culturally Informed Practices in Justice Work, hosted by the Calgary John Howard Society (CJHS).
Our Project Coordinator, Malik Muradov and Board Member Rayan Zaza will lead a thought-provoking session:
“The Village Approach: Restoring Broken Bonds and Preventing Crime in Muslim Communities.”
Drawing from his journey as a Chaplain, Parole Officer, and community leader, Malik will share powerful, lived experiences that reveal the challenges within the justice system—and the hope that emerges when faith, culture, and community come together.
This presentation will highlight:
✅ How culturally informed strategies can prevent crime and support at-risk youth
✅ The role of faith-based chaplaincy in prisons as a source of hope and transformation
✅ Why strong community reintegration is the key to breaking the cycle of recidivism
📅 Date: October 1, 2025
