On Friday, March 27, 2026, the Islamic Restoration Society – IRES proudly sponsored an Eid al‑Fitr celebration at Bowden Institution, in partnership with the Chaplaincy department, marking the blessed conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan. The event brought together Muslim inmates, community partners, and supporting staff in a spirit of gratitude, reflection, and renewed hope.
Held in the institution’s chapel spaces at both the Main Unit (12:00 PM) and the Annex (3:00 PM), the celebration followed established institutional protocols and reflected IRES’s ongoing commitment to Islamic prison dawah, rehabilitation, and community restoration.
A Meaningful Day of Faith and Community
Approximately 60 Muslim inmates participated in the celebration. The program included a shared Eid meal, a knowledge‑based Islamic competition, words of encouragement from community representatives, and an open microphone segment that allowed participants to express gratitude and personal reflections. The gathering culminated in the congregational Friday (Jumu’ah) prayer, serving as the spiritual centerpiece of the day.
To ensure inclusion across the institution, remaining food was later shared with Muslim inmates at the Annex Chapel.
All meals—including shawarma wraps, drinks, and desserts—were prepared by Jerusalem Shawarma and entered the institution in full compliance with safety and inspection requirements. The event was fully funded through IRES and its partner community organizations, with no cost to the institution.
Advancing IRES’s Prison Dawah Mission
This Eid celebration reflects the heart of IRES’s Islamic Prison Dawah (Ministry), one of the organization’s core pillars. Through consistent presence, compassionate engagement, and collaboration with correctional chaplaincy services, IRES works to restore the vital bonds between incarcerated individuals and their faith, family, and community.
By supporting faith‑based programming such as Eid celebrations, IRES helps create moments of dignity, belonging, and spiritual renewal—key elements in reducing recidivism and supporting lasting transformation.
