🌿 Post-Event Highlights: Volunteer Training – Understanding the Correctional Process 🌿
On September 26, 2025, the Islamic Restoration Society (IRES) proudly hosted an enlightening Volunteer Training: Understanding the Correctional Process at our Calgary centre.
This special session brought together volunteers, community members, and those passionate about restorative work to explore how we can better support individuals impacted by the justice system.
The session was led by Amanda Lee from Correctional Services Canada, who guided participants through the full correctional journey — from the moment a person comes into conflict with the law to the reintegration process. Through her expertise, attendees gained valuable insights into how the justice system functions and, more importantly, how volunteers can play a crucial role in restoring dignity, hope, and belonging.

The atmosphere was one of learning, reflection, and inspiration. Volunteers left with a deeper understanding of their impact and practical tools to make their service more meaningful and effective. Many shared how eye-opening it was to see the broader picture of correctional processes — and how essential community support is in rebuilding lives.
At IRES, we believe that the healing of a community begins with the restoration of individuals. This training was a powerful reminder of that mission, and we are deeply grateful to every volunteer who joined us and continues to serve with dedication and compassion.

✨ A heartfelt thank you to Amanda Lee for her time and expertise — and to all our volunteers for your unwavering commitment to making a difference.
Together, we learn, grow, and restore.

Here is a poster produced and shared by Correctional Services Canada summarizing what we have learned at this volunteer training.
